Jhunjhunu (Hindi: झुंझुनू) is a city in northwestern Rajasthan, India. Jhunjhunu is the administrative headquarters of the Jhunjhunu district, part of the Shekhawati region. It about 180 km northeast of Jaipur. The district is named after a Jat, “Jhunjha” or “Jujhar Singh Nehra”. The area has varied terrain and is drained by the Kantli river. The population is 2,137,045 According to 2011 census. Jhunjhunu is culturally significant for its painted havelis.
